The Directors of Caparo Testing Technologies are committed to achieving the highest standards of Environmental Awareness and recognise it is their duty to comply with all environmental legislation.
Arrangements and responsibilities for Environmental Management are detailed in the Environmental Manual.
It is our policy to:
- Prevent pollution from our services and activities;
- Meet legislative and regulatory requirements;
- Minimise waste and the consumption of resources (materials, fuel and energy);
- Set and review environmental objectives and targets;
- Communicate and consult with our employees this policy and any other environmental matters;
- Ensure any contractors working on our sites comply with legislation and regulatory requirements, and
- Develop and maintain the environmental management system through continuous improvement.
All employees are to regard issues concerning the environment to be of prime importance and are to adopt the following codes of practice with regard to environmental issues:
- Co-operate with the company for environmental matters.
- Do not dispose of hazardous chemicals (including empty containers), into non hazardous waste streams, the sewerage system, waterways or on to bare ground as this is forbidden without written authorisation from the appropriate governing body.
- Ensure that disposal of all other wastes complies with legislative and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that all hazardous waste is handled in a safe manner inline with manufacturers’ recommendations.
- Ensure that any storage of waste onsite (indoors or outdoors) is secure to prevent accidental release or mixing with other waste streams.
- Ensure that appropriate paperwork is retained for all waste leaving site.
- Do not bring onto company premises any personal waste for disposal in company skips or waste containers.
- Burning of materials or chemicals on site is forbidden.
- Report any shortcomings in environmental arrangements which could lead to a breach of this environmental policy.
This environmental policy is subject to periodic review to confirm its continued suitability, and is available to the public.
In order to implement this policy we will provide sufficient resources to meet these commitments.
